After conducting a Counter-Strike Global Offensive competition in the past with exciting rewards and a unique visual interface, tournament organizer BLAST recently revealed with Bounty Hunt their first entry into Dota 2. This article will lead you through the specifics of the Dota 2 BLAST Bounty Hunt Event you need to know.
Date of the event
BLAST Bounty Hunt will take place from 9-13 June and will stream on the recently established Dota 2 Twitch and YouTube channels by BLAST.
Total Prize Pool
BLAST will be a fully online contest with a competitive prize pool of $145,000 for players and a cash prize of $5,000 for winners in the spectators. The diverse prize pool and a betting game for fans are exclusive to BLAST Bounty Hunt and got developed in partnership with the teams involved.
Format of the Dota 2 Bounty Hunt event
Professional Dota 2 teams from across the globe will participate for five days in a row in more than 32 hours of competitive gameplay, competing in best-of-three games before the best-of-five Final. With every contest, the prize pool will transition, and additional bounties may be scored along the way, thereby continuously shifting stakes.
Participating Teams
OG Esports, Team Secret, Team Nigma, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Alliance, and Team Liquid are among the top teams competing in the Dota 2 Bounty Hunt Event.
BLAST Bounty Hunt: A new beginning
Given its global scope, BLAST is a reasonably small business, so introducing a new game would require everyone to be willing to take on the responsibility. BLAST was not looking for a different shooting game and went on the other side of the spectrum of genres. Dota 2, a MOBA with such a massive global fandom and sophisticated dynamics, was the goal of the BLAST squad.
Dota 2 BLAST event will be different
BLAST took the deliberate choice of not copying and pasting its Counter-Strike event style. One significant change from the standard streams of BLAST is how viewers interpret gameplay. Unlike Counter-Strike, which was analysed and shown in a custom visual format, Dota 2 will be available to viewers in its original state.
Working of Dynamic prize pool
- Every team begins with $15,000, and each time they play against someone in the best of three, 40 percent of their reward goes up for negotiation.
- To meet the remaining two, teams must bracket each other and compete in double elimination brackets.
- Seeds 3-6 will compete with the winners, going on to meet 1-2 seeds, where both group winners begin with $20,000 for a final spot.
Additional bounties
Additional $45,000 bounties are winnable along the road via contests that audiences can vote on via BLAST social media platforms. As another option, the nickname of one elector will represent the part of the name of each corresponding bounty.
The diverse prize pool makes for ever-changing and higher rewards. If a team wins BLAST Bounty Hunt unbeaten, they will take home with them up to $51,120, including any extra winning bounties, up to $96,000.
BLAST Fan Prediction Game
A total of $5,000 from the prize pool, to claim the Fan Prediction Game, will be open to the supporters at home. Across the competition, viewers will be able to predict the results of each game, the number of bounties won, and a variety of other unexpected twists.
