BoxingErrol Spence Fight News Dampened by Terence Crawford

It’s worth noting that Crawford, who is 35 years old, decided not to provide any additional information regarding the news report about his potential fight with IBF, WBA, and WBC welterweight champion, Spence. Adopting the outdated strategy of Floyd Mayweather Jr. to maximise profits by delaying the fight’s announcement might not be the best approach for them. This approach rarely yields results and is unsuitable for Spence and Crawford, whose fan base is arguably dwindling. They only participate in one fight per year and never compete against top-notch opponents. As a result, they may be wasting their time following this approach.

Both individuals have failed to confront the formidable opponents of the younger generation, such as Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Vergil Ortiz Jr, Eimantas Stanionis, or Roiman Villa.

Unexpectedly, Spence remains mum on the issue, as he is typically prompt to debunk any false reports.

It’s possible that the Spence-Crawford bout is imminent, and the two parties have chosen to remain tight-lipped until the official announcement. While this scenario is optimistic, there is also the possibility that the speculation is incorrect, and the fight will not materialise.

Earlier today, RingTV disclosed that the undisputed welterweight championship between Spence and Crawford would occur on June 17th in Las Vegas, with the official announcement taking place on April 22nd during the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia bout.

If Crawford is serious about not fighting, it will be a let-down for numerous fans who are eager to witness him battle Spence. Even though these two champions are advancing in age, rarely fight anymore, and have lost favour with most fans, there is still a glimmer of interest in some pockets.

On social media, boxing enthusiasts tend to blame Crawford for the Spence fight’s lack of materialisation, but it’s a two-way street. It’s a shared responsibility.

Assuming that the Spence-Crawford fight doesn’t occur this year, supporters should relinquish hope of ever seeing these two boxers face off while they are still in their prime.

Viewers have no interest in witnessing Spence and Crawford fight when they are past their prime, as demonstrated by the Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan vs. Kell Brook bouts.

Those two contests should have occurred when the fighters were in their 20s. However, they were postponed until they were in their mid-30s and no longer at their peak.
