According to McGuigan, Eubank Jr’s fighting style has changed completely. He used to be aggressive, standing in close and throwing multiple punches with power and speed, but now he relies on weak jabs and single shots from a distance. The defeat against Liam Smith, a faded and average 154-lb contender on January 21st, highlights how much Eubank Jr has declined in his skills.

Liam, at 34 years old, is a decent fighter at the domestic level, but he is not a contender in the current 154-lb division. He would be no match for the top 10 fighters in the junior middleweight category. The loss to Liam, therefore, is a disappointment for Eubank Jr, who should be competing with more formidable opponents.

Unfortunately, it’s unrealistic to think that Liam could win or even hold his own against top fighters in the division. The loss to Liam highlights the need for Eubank Jr to make significant changes to his style and find a new trainer as soon as possible.
