FURIA vs Team Liquid – DreamHack Master’s Spring 2020: North America

On the third day of the DreamHack Master’s Spring 2020: North America, FURIA will take on Team Liquid for the third time in 25 days. The match will take place on 21st May and will be played in the best-of-three format. In this article, we will have a look at which team will come out on top.

Team Liquid

Unfortunately Liquid is not the same team that it was in 2019 when it dethroned Astralis from the No.1 spot by winning the Intel Grand Slam (IGS) Season 2 title. In 2020, the team has displayed many disappointing results even before Counter-Strike moved to online play.

Since the start of the year, Liquid has competed in BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 Regular Season, IEM Katowice, ESL Pro League Season 11: North America, and ESL One: Road to Rio – North America. The best result of the team was in Pro League where the side managed to lift the title. However, you should know that the competition didn’t include the likes of FaZe or Astralis. In the tournament, Liquid dropped a couple of games to Swole Patrol and FURIA, yet they managed to bounce back and beat Evil Geniuses 3-0 in the grand finale.

At ESL One: Road to Rio, Liquid arrived at the competition as the reigning champions but still produced some embarrassing results. Since they were once again defeated by FURIA and also to the struggling teams like Envy and Bad News Bears. The side had to settle for fourth place after losing to Cloud 9 in the third-place decider.

In the past six games, Liquid has only managed to win two matches, which hints there are problems within the team, and seeing losing them two consecutive games to FURIA is not a good sign for the team in the upcoming matchup.

FURIA

FURIA will be coming into this game with great confidence since the side holds a dominating 3-0 record over Liquid since the start of 2020. The Brazilian side has won eight of their last ten games and they only lost to EG in the semi-finals of ESL Pro League Season 11 and against Gen.G in the grand finals of ESL One: Road to Rio.

The side led by Andrei “arT” Piovezan is surely making its mark in the competitive landscape. Since FURIA is currently in the top 10 teams in the world ranking. The individuals behind this remarkable success of the team are Henrique “HEN1” Teles, Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato, and Yuri “yuurih” Gomes. Since they have average remarkable ratings of 1.13, 1.22, and 1.19 in their recent matches.

Prediction FURIA 2-1 Team Liquid

Seeing the recent performances of both teams it is hard not to give FURIA the edge ahead of this match. Team Liquid will be aiming to redeem themselves after a series of poor results, but FURIA is just too good at the moment to get shot down. They will surely produce more dominating results as the year progresses.
