Since 1999, Evil Geniuses has been setting the bar for all other esports teams. They come across as fearless and will take on any challenge the industry throws at them. As an elite organization, they encompass teams for Dota 2, League of Legends, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, among others.

The original purpose of Evil Geniuses was to serve as a Counter-Strike team populated by Canadian players. By expanding into other games, they cemented their place in the industry. Few other organizations in esports are more established than the Evil Geniuses are.

Dota 2

It was until 2011 that the organization took on Dota 2.By 2013 they finished among the top three in Dota 2 tournament competitions. With the inclusion of three new players the very next year, they were able to go on to win eight of the 2014 tournaments, which included the World Esports Championship. The next year they took top prize at the Asia Championships for Dota 2 and at season three of the Dota Pit League.

Their current Dota 2 team has six players and 10 trophies to their name. The coach is a former Team Liquid member. Though he originally joined Evil Geniuses as a player he quickly advanced in the ranks. He led the team to a third place victory in The International 2014, after having competed in and won a slew of live tournaments. This was all it took for the name Evil Geniuses to be synonymous with DOTA 2.

Since then they have set a record in North America for the highest number of wins. Four times they ranked in the top three teams at championship tournaments all around the world. Among the teams from North America they were the only ones to become The International winner. One of the reasons they have always had such good luck with this game is that Arteezy is ranked as the world’s best Dota 2 player.

Call Of Duty

Though they have exceeded in Dota 2, Evil Geniuses is better known for its accomplishments in Call of Duty. They competed in World League tournaments in 2014, and from 2016 to 2019. Between 2014 and 2016 there were some changes to the team that resulted in them opting out of any tournaments in 2015. Though they lost one team member to FaZe Clan, they gained a new player to replace their loss.

They faced further changes in 2014, thanks to the buying out of all five team members. After three years of downtime, the team reemerged as a force to be reckoned with for the Infinite War Season of Call of Duty. The team went on to beat FaZe Clan and some of the other top esports teams.

Their COD winning streak still continues, with Sta Series Season 8 and ESL One New York tournament wins in 2019. It was also during that time that the team became partners with LG UltraGear. They later formed another partnership with Motorola and continue to forge new ones.
