Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has urged his players to concentrate on soccer following the withdrawal of criminal charges against teammate Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service. The charges were dropped after key witnesses declined to participate.
After being arrested in January 2022 on allegations related to images and videos, Mason Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault causing actual bodily harm. The forward, who has earned one cap for England, was immediately suspended from both playing and training with Manchester United.
When asked about Greenwood, Ten Hag responded, “No, I have nothing to say. I can’t add anything. I refer to the club’s statement.” Regarding whether he had spoken to the England striker and if he was part of the club’s process, Ten Hag stated, “As I said, I cannot comment on the process at this moment. I refer to the club’s statement and currently have nothing to add.” The BBC reports that Greenwood will not resume training or playing until the club’s process is finished.
