Michael Jordan is considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He was born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. Jordan played college basketball at the University of North Carolina, where he was a member of the 1982 NCAA championship team.

Jordan was selected third overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 1984 NBA draft, and he quickly established himself as one of the league’s premier players. He won five Most Valuable Player awards, ten scoring titles, and was named to the All-Star team 14 times.

Jordan’s greatest accomplishment was leading the Bulls to six NBA championships in eight years during the 1990s. He was instrumental in each of the championships, winning the Finals MVP award in all six series. Jordan’s competitiveness and clutch performances in high-pressure situations earned him the nickname “Air Jordan” and made him a global icon in the sport of basketball.

Off the court, Jordan is also known for his successful sneaker line, Air Jordan, which is produced by Nike. He is also the owner of the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA and has a stake in several other business ventures.

In addition to his success in the NBA, Jordan also played baseball briefly and won a gold medal with the 1992 US Olympic “Dream Team.” He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.
