100 Thieves will take on Gen.G in the second game of Group B at DreamHack Masters Spring 2020. The match will take place on 26th May and will be played in the best-of-three format. In this article we will study which team will come out on top.
Gen.G
Gen.G come into this competition as one of the favorites after lifting the title of ESL One: Road to Rio – North America, where the side not only lifted the title but also took home $180,000. The team also competed in the FLASHPOINT Season 1. Here, they managed a fifth-sixth place finish after losing to HAVU in the lower bracket.

This remarkable improvement of the team can be attributed to the arrival of Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand in January from TYLOO. Now they are placed in the top 15 teams in the world ranking which is the team’s all-time highest placement.
100 Thieves
Meanwhile 100 Thieves have also managed a string of decent results as the side finished in the quarterfinals of the IEM Katowice. In March the team competed in the ESL Pro League Season 11: North America and finished in fifth place. And only managed a sixth-place finish at ESL One: Road to Rio – North America. These are good results but are still disappointing considering the high standards of 100 Thieves
100 Thieves signed the entire Renegades team in October in 2019 and have slowly declined in performances. Previously the side occupied the sixth spot in the world ranking and now sit at 11th spot in the global rankings.
We are not exactly sure what is the problem with 100 Thieves at the moment. They recently competed against Envy and Team Liquid, where they were comprehensively dominated. Aaron “AZR” Ward and Jay “Liazz” Tregillas performed terribly as they finished with 0.83 and 0.81 ratings against Liquid. And against Envy they disappointed again with 0.86 and 0.90 ratings.
Prediction: Gen.G 2-1 100 Thieves
The last meetings between the teams took place less than 24 days ago in the group stage of ESL One: Road to Rio – North America where Gen.G came out the 2-0 winners. 100 Thieves were nowhere to be seen as they won only two rounds in the second half of the Dust II map.
Gen.G arrives into this game as the heavy favorites not only because of its quality results but also for having Chris “Elmapuddy” Tebbit as head coach. Since he was the former coach of the 100 Thieves roster and is very well aware of its old team’s strategies.
We expect high-quality action on Tuesday. Since Gen.G will be reluctant to get a much-needed win on the board while 100 Thieves will be aiming to recover from their recent decline. We believe that 100T will struggle but will surely push the series to the third game. While Gen.G will aim to add another title to their trophy cabinet.
